First sauna visit

When you book in for your sauna, you will receive an email explaining how to best prepare for the sauna. First session will be booked in with a practitioner, who will give you a orientation and explanation on how to use the sauna.
How to prepare for sauna:
  • Drink plenty of water 24-48 hours prior to sauna.
  • Avoid wearing make-up or using any creams or lotions.
If you have booked for another service (acupuncture / massage), we suggest the sauna time is planned for after the other services.

Precautions for sauna use:
  • Pregnant women should consult with a physician prior to using the sauna. AcuBalance does not recommend infrared sauna when pregnant.
  • Do not use sauna under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Please seek medical advice from GP if the sauna is suitable for your health circumstances.
  • Never sleep in the Sauna
  • Prolonged exposure to hot environments may cause hyperthermia. Our sauna turns off automatically after 60 minutes. Symptoms of excessive hyperthermia include dizziness, lethargy, drowsiness and fainting. The effects of hyperthermia may include failure to perceive heat, failure to recognize the need to exit, unawareness of impending hazard, fetal damage in pregnant women, physical inability to exit the sauna, and unconsciousness.
