What is Acupuncture?
An acupuncture treatment involves a consultation followed by the insertion of small fine needles placed at specific acupuncture points. Your qualified acupuncturist will discuss your unique treatment with you.
Acupuncture and cupping has been used therapeutically in illnesses for over 5000 years. Acupuncture is a complementary medicine and is a regulated health profession in Australia. More acupuncture research is required to uncover the full potential of acupuncture in today's medical system. Consult our professional acupuncturists to discuss whether acupuncture might be suitable for you. Chinese medicine is generally considered to be safe but occasionally (as with all health treatments) the treatment may be associated with possible adverse reactions in individual cases. Our therapists are here to discuss this with you during your treatment. |

Frequently asked Questions:
What do I wear to acupuncture?
Loose fitting clothing is great. We have private treatment rooms with towels, so you are able to change if appropriate for your treatment. We will be able to advise you. If you are uncomfortable and would prefer to keep covered, we are able to accommodate and choose a different combination of acupuncture points.
Does Acupuncture hurt?
Many people are surprised when they discover that at our Chermside acupuncture clinic, our treatment style is gentle. If you would like, we will talk to you whilst you are having the acupuncture treatment and then allow you time to rest afterwards. If you are concerned our practitioners are able to talk you through every step.
Is Acupuncture the same as Dry Needling?
Dry needling is part of acupuncture. A qualified acupuncturists can perform dry needling as well as advanced acupuncture techniques. Did you know dry needling is a very basic form of acupuncture? Unfortunately not many people know that dry needling can be performed by other therapists that are not registered acupuncturists and may have only completed a weekend course in dry needling. In comparison, Acupuncturists train to needle acupuncture points for 4 years full time and must follow strict government guidelines. We highly recommend you see a Brisbane acupuncturist for your dry needling requirements to be sure as the needling skills, education and training are very different.
